This is a great idea-with this in mind could there be an option for an alert/notification if area hasn't been checked in a certain duration (once an hour/ once every 4 hours/ once a day).

In some ways I originally read the feedback and connected it more to a restroom type area more than any other type of area.

Possibly an add-on. I know there are options for reporting through QM at higher tiers, but could be a nice option for patrons to report problems as well.
